– The TinCaps completed their first home sweep of South Bend since 2009.

Fort Wayne notched a 4-3 victory Friday night at Parkview Field to end a homestand that featured a 7-6, 16-inning victory Wednesday and a 5-2 win Thursday.

Rodney Daal scored the winning run in the seventh inning, coming home on a wild pitch by Henry Garcia.

TinCaps relievers Joe Church and Chris Nunn retired six of the next seven Silver Hawks with Nunn striking out three of the five batters he faced to pick up his ninth save of the season. Nunn did not give up a hit in 1 2/3 innings.

South Bend (77-53, 33-28 second half) scored in each of the first two innings, but the TinCaps (68-61, 25-35) tied the game in the bottom of the second when Tyler Stubblefield drove Gabriel Quintana and Luis Domoromo home with a line drive to right field.

Mallex Smith gave the TinCaps a 3-2 lead in the fifth thanks to some crafty base running.

After reaching on a single, Smith stole second then third for his 60th and 61st steals of the season.

He came home when South Bend had Reynaldo Brugeura in a rundown when he was caught trying to steal second base.

South Bend tied the game in the sixth on a single by Roidany Aguila that brought home Rudy Flores.

Church (2-3) picked up the win for Fort Wayne, giving up three hits and a run in 2 1/3 innings of relief for Walker Weickel, who gave up two runs – one earned – on four hits in five innings.

Garcia (7-2) took the loss after he issued a walk to the first batter he faced, Daal, committed an error then intentionally loaded the bases with a walk before throwing the wild pitch that sealed the TinCaps’ victory.

Before the game, the TinCaps put right-handed pitcher Jorge Guzman on the disabled list.

Right-hander Josh Richardson was called up from short season-A Eugene.
