FORT WAYNE – Concordias Zach Panning finished first to lead the Cadets to a first-place team finish at the Bishop Luers Invite on Saturday at Foster Park. Panning finished the 5-kilometer race in 17 minutes, 46.9 seconds to finish ahead of second place Matt Klein of Bishop Dwenger.
For the girls, Marina Konow of Concordia finished in first overall in 21:34.2 to lead the Concordia girls to a first place finish in the team scores.
At Celina, Ohios Wright State Lake campus, the South Adams boys team took first place at the 11-team Celina Rotary Invite.
South Adams had four runners in the top 10 with Brody Shane leading the Starfires in the 5,000-meter race in 17 minutes, 18.5 seconds for fourth place.
WAYNE 6, WOODLAN 0: At Woodlan, the Generals improved to 2-0 as five players tallied goals against the Warriors.
Hugo Villagomez scored once in each half and was accompanied by Randy Lewis, Jorge Silva, Jesus Diaz, and Guz Lopez on the scoreboard.
HUNTINGTON NORTH 3, JAY COUNTY 0: At Huntington North, the Vikings broke through in the second half to improve to 2-1.
Corinne Tester scored twice and had one assist in the win over the Patriots.
At Fremont, Leo won 13 of 15 matches over three rounds to win the Fremont Invitational over Snider, Fremont and Lakeland.
Eli Stiner went undefeated, and Nick San Giacomo and Reid Herran each went 2-1.
Snider won two matches over the three rounds.
CANTERBURY 3, HAMILTON 0: At Canterbury, the Cavaliers won in straight sets, 25-17, 25-12, 25-19, over the Marines to go 1-1 on the season.
Katherine Smith led Canterbury with 13 kills and three blocks. Kelsey McDonald recorded seven aces and six digs to lead the defense.
