  • Ex-TinCap Mallex Smith voted minors' top offensive player
    Mallex Smith, who was the TinCaps' center fielder for the 2013 season and the first half of 2014, was voted by fans as the top offensive player in the minor leagues during the past season.

Joe Ross and Walker Weickel are the scheduled starting pitchers for the TinCaps tonight when they open a four-game, three-day series tonight at the West Michigan Whitecaps in Comstock Park, Mich. Tonight's doubleheader was forced by a rain-induced postponement of the game scheduled for July 26. Before the game, the Tincap announced some roster moves.Catcher Miguel Del Castillo was sent to Short-Season-A Eugene and catcher Ryan Miller was sent from Short-Season-A Eugene to Fort Wayne.

Del Castillo went 4 for 31 (.129) at the plate with 3 RBI in 9 games with the TinCaps.

Miller, a 14th-round draft selection of the Padres in June out of San Bernardino Valley College, hit .245 with 9 RBI in 43 games with the Emeralds.
