Fort Wayne police spent nearly seven hours trying to resolve a domestic battery case in which the suspect was believed barricaded inside his residence.
But when they entered into the house shortly before before 3 a.m. Wednesday, the suspect was nowhere to be found, according to a report from city police.
The investigation began shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday when the victim said the battery had occurred at the suspect’s residence in the 1600 block of Cass Street. The victim was at another address when she made the report. Officers were unable to make contact with the suspect at his residence.
Police later received information the suspect was possibly barricaded inside his residence. The Emergency Service Team and the Crisis Response Team were called about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.
CRT members made repeated attempts to communicate with the suspect, police said. Emergency Services Team members attempted to order the suspect from the house using a loud speaker.
When they didn’t get a response, EST officers entered the residence about 3 a.m., the report said.
The case remains under investigation.
