News and notes
- Indiana returns 10 offensive starters and eight defensive starters for its rematch with the Sycamores. The Hoosiers also brought in a talented freshman class that has scattered itself across the two-deep, particularly on defense. ISU, meanwhile, lost seven starters on defense but returns its biggest offensive weapon, running back Shakir Bell, who is projected by some to be a top-100 pick in the 2014 NFL draft.
- IU is 36-17 in openers at Memorial Stadium and has won 10 of its last 11 home openers. The Hoosiers are also 4-0 all-time against ISU and have outscored the Sycamores 143-27 in those contests.
- IU will roll out a ton of new promotions, more fireworks and a few new traditions for its game tonight. Athletic director Fred Glass said he hopes to get at least 40,000 people into Memorial Stadium for the opening matchup.
