A Fort Wayne man was held on drug charges following a meth raid this morning at his home, Fort Wayne police said today.
In a statement, police said Jeramy T. Swartz, 41, of the 3300 block of Brook Valley Place, was charged with manufacturing methampetamine, possession of two or more meth precursors, possession of methamphetamine and illegal dumping of controlled substance waste, all felonies, and misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia. His bond was set at $50,000.
The department's meth suppression and emergency services teams served a search warrant at the home after narcotics detectives received information that someone at the home was making meth, the statement said.
When the warrant was served, Swartz and an unidentified woman were found inside the home, police said. They said an active meth lab, meth precursors, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were found and seized.
The Fort Wayne Fire Department, Three Rivers Ambulance Authority paramedics and the Allen County Health Department assisted in the investigation, police said. They said the house was condemned because of contamination from an active meth lab, and Fort Wayne firefighters were called in to decontaminate Swartz.
The Red Cross assisted in finding housing for the woman, police said.
