Irish trimmed from NFL rosters

As NFL teams whittle down their rosters today, some former Notre Dame players didn't make the cut.

  • Center Braxston Cave was released by Cleveland
  • Quarterback Jimmy Clausen was cut by Carolina
  • Offensive lineman Mike Golic Jr. was cut Pittsburgh
  • Running back Armando Allen was cut by Chicago on Friday
Running back Cierre Wood, who went undrafted, appears to have made a roster. Wood will open the season as Houston's No. 3 running back, according to reports.

Defensive lineman Kapron Lewis-Moore will start the season on Baltimore's physically unable to perform list and will miss the first six weeks of the season. Lewis-Moore is recovering from a torn ACL he suffered in the BCS championship game.
