TinCaps’ 2014 schedule packed with fireworks

– The TinCaps will light up the night skies over Parkview Field a record-tying 30 times during the 2014 season.

The team released its 2014 home schedule Saturday and among the highlights is opening day, set for Thursday, April 3 against the Great Lakes Loons.

That game will feature postgame fireworks; then, beginning Memorial Day weekend, 29 of the TinCaps’ final 50 home games will have postgame fireworks.

Fort Wayne will be home for six of nine weekends in July and August, including a series from July 4-6 against the West Michigan Whitecaps. Next year marks the sixth consecutive season that the TinCaps have been home on Independence Day.

In 2014, the TinCaps have more Sunday afternoon home games, four, with a start time of 1:05, than ever before.
