Three separate fires burned a vehicle, a pole barn and an attached garage Sunday morning in Riverhaven, leading fire officials to investigate the possibility of arson.
"It's not usually a coincidence that you would have three at a time, but I can't say one way or another until they actually do their investigation," said District Chief Carl Bradtmueller of the New Haven-Adams Township Fire Department.
Firefighters were dispatched to the blazes, near Maplecrest and Parrot Roads, shortly before 5 a.m.
The pole barn that burned was in the 900 block of Portola Drive. The fire that destroyed a vehicle and melted the siding of a nearby house was in the 1000 block of Waverly Drive. And the attached garage that caught fire was in the 700 block of Waverly.
Bradtmueller said flames engulfed the attached garage and spread somewhat into the home. The American Red Cross came to assist the displaced family, he said.
All three addresses are in Fort Wayne, but the New Haven-Adams Township Fire Department was responsible for responding to the blazes. Firefighters from Fort Wayne, Woodburn and St. Joseph Township helped at the scene.
Bradtmueller said the three fires were a good distance from one another and that fire crews had them all under control by 5:30 a.m. No one was injured, he said.
