Science guy cancels appearance at IPFW

Nye

Bill Nye, scientist, inventor, TV host, and cast member of the new season of ABC TV’s “Dancing With the Stars” has canceled his appearance as IPFW’s first Omnibus lecturer for the 2013 season.

Nye cited the short time span between his scheduled appearance at IPFW on Thursday and the premiere of “Dancing With the Stars” on Sept. 16 as the reason for the cancellation.

Irene Walters, executive director of IPFW’s University Relations and Communications, expressed disappointment at Nye’s cancellation.

“Everyone in the community was so excited about his lecture; so much so that all the tickets for it were reserved in just a matter of days. We are disappointed that he had to cancel, but are very much hoping IPFW and Nye can find a date in the spring when he can come and present his lecture.”
