Silver Hawks win, 7-5

And Game 1 of the Eastern Division championship goes to the South Bend Silver Hawks, 7-5, in what can only be termed a come-from-ahead victory.

Ahead 5-1 midway through the opener of the best-of-three series, the Silver Hawks saw the TinCaps tie it in the seventh on Alberth Martinez' two-run, two-out single to right, but then scored two in the top of the ninth to pull it out.

The game drew 2,486 fans to Parkview Field, pushing the season attendance to a record 410,459, eclipsing the 408,044 of 2012.

They saw a stirring comeback by the TinCaps come up short when the Silver Hawks scored in the ninth on a walk, a single, and then a single that turned into two runs when Martinez slipped and fell trying to field it.

It all happened with two out, and after the Fort Wayne bullpen had struck out eight and allowed just one baserunner from the fourth inning on.
