LOS ANGELES – A 10-year-old boy has died after suffering a severe head injury when the modified golf cart he was riding in overturned in an exclusive gated community north of Beverly Hills.
City News Service reports the boy died Sunday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, about two hours after the crash was reported in Beverly Park.
Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey said the cart was carrying two men and three boys when it overturned.
The coroner's office later identified him as Mark Martinez.
Police were investigating but could provide no further details.
Beverly Park is a private community known for its large homes and famous residents, including Magic Johnson and Samuel L. Jackson.
