Notre Dame

  • Bye gives beat-up Irish needed rest
Notre Dame may be 3-0, but coach Brian Kelly said the upcoming bye week is a welcome sight since he has such a banged-up team.
  • Irish get the message
INDIANAPOLIS – Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly didn’t scream at his players during halftime at Lucas Oil Stadium Saturday night. That wouldn’t have been him.
  • Boilers-Irish will take break
For 69 years, there’s been one certainty concerning Purdue and Notre Dame football: the in-state foes would play in a rivalry that dates to the 19th century.

Notre Dame correcting ‘Figthing Irish’ typo on cups

SOUTH BEND – Notre Dame says there will be no more “Figthing Irish” at the next home game.

The South Bend Tribune reports the 50-ounce plastic souvenir cups sold at Notre Dame Stadium on Aug. 31 when the Fighting Irish played Temple had a typo, reading instead: “Figthing Irish.” The team name was spelled correctly on smaller cups.

University spokesman Dennis Brown wouldn’t say who was to blame for the mistake. Printing on the bottom of the cup said they were made by Dynamic Drinkware of Oshkosh, Wis.

Brown wouldn’t say how many cups were printed with the mistake. He says the 50-ounce cups sold at the next home on Sept. 21 against Michigan State will be spelled correctly.
