A Fort Wayne man initially charged with raping a woman in June pleaded guilty to lesser charges Monday.
But a plea agreement he accepted from Allen County prosecutors calls for him to serve time.
Jesse O. Nord pleaded guilty in Allen Superior Court to one felony count of domestic battery and a felony count of sexual battery.
The 29-year-old was arrested after a woman called police to say he had forced her to have sex, pulled her hair, scratched her face and neck and kicked her, according to court documents.
The crimes occurred in the woman’s home, she told police.
Nord was initially charged with felony rape, criminal deviate conduct, strangulation and two counts of domestic battery.
If his plea deal is accepted by a judge at his sentencing next month, he will likely be sentenced to three years in prison and have several of those charges dropped.
Nord was on probation and serving a 1 1/2 -year suspended sentence for a previous domestic battery conviction at the time of the battery, though.
That means he could have the suspended portion of the sentence for that conviction tacked onto his new sentence.
