This minivan was involved in a one-vehicle crash in DeKalb County Thursday morning, the county sheriff's department said. The driver was transported to a Fort Wayne hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Minivan hits tree on rural road

A Wolcottville man driving home from work in Fort Wayne on Thursday morning told paramedics that he closed his eyes for just a short time before his minivan went left of center on a rural DeKalb County road and ended up hitting a tree, the county sheriff’s department said.

Daniel E. Douglas, 35, was going north on County Road 327 about 9 a.m. when the Pontiac Montana crossed the center line south of County Road 68, went off the road and struck a tree, according to a statement issued by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department. The van ended up on its side.

Douglas was transported to a Fort Wayne hospital by ambulance with injuries that were not categorized as life-threatening, according to the sheriff’s department.
