    Top-ranked Andrean beat No. 3 Bishop Luers 17-15 Saturday in a 3A semistate at Luersfield as the reigning state champion 59ers earned a trip to the Class 3A state finals.
  • Snider gets sliced up
    A Snider team that had gotten to the Class 5A semistate by forcing its opponents into untimely mistakes was eliminated Friday largely thanks to its own errors.

Saints need 5 sets vs. Warriors

Nothing came easy on the volleyball court Wednesday for Bishop Luers and Woodlan.

Tori Bontrager had 26 kills for the Warriors, but it wasn’t enough.

Luers was poised to close it out in the fourth set but had to go the five-set distance before finally winning, 24-26, 25-21, 25-16, 19-25, 15-13.

McKenzie North led Luers with 19 kills.

Girls golf

BELLMONT 193, SOUTH ADAMS 202: The Starfires’ Sydney Willis shot a 39 for medalist honors but it wasn’t enough at Cross Creek Golf Club. Rachel Klingensmith shot 43 to lead Bellmont.

NORWELL 181, BLUFFTON 216: Amber Nelson’s 1-over 37 and Erika Thornton’s 39 led the Knights at Timber Ridge.

Girls soccer

SNIDER 3, SOUTH SIDE 0: Danielle Klooze, Gabi Ybarra and Claire Pittenger scored for the Panthers, who got a shutout from Rosemary Snyder.
