Bait store suspect netted

A Pierceton man is accused of trying to break into a northeast Indiana bait shop Thursday morning.

The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department said Joshua Eyer, 28, was stopped after a report came in that someone was trying to burglarize the Number One Bait and Tackle Store at Indiana 13 and County Road 350 North.

Officers from North Webster, Pierceton and the sheriff’s department responded to the 6:21 a.m. call, authorities said. A Pierceton officer stopped Eyer just east of Indiana 13 at County Road 200 North. The sheriff’s department said Eyer tossed a stolen gas can out of the vehicle before he was stopped.

He was preliminarily charged with felony theft and attempted burglary of a business and was being held in the Kosciusko County Jail on $5,000 bond.
