Purdue leads Notre Dame entering 4th quarter

WEST LAFAYETTE – Purdue enters the final quarter clinging to a 17-10 lead over Notre Dame after giving up the lead for just more than 4 minutes in the third quarter.

Notre Dame didn't waste much time in the second half to draw even with Purdue. The Irish went 70 yards on 10 plays with McDaniel scoring from a yard out to tie the game at 10 with 10:37 to play in the third quarter.

McDaniel's TD was set up by Jones' hauling in a 27-yard catch over a defender on Purdue's 1-yard line. The play was initially ruled incomplete but was overturned after a review.

Purdue answered in a big way as it went 54-yards in eight plays, ending with B.J. Knauf scoring from 18 yards out as he eluded KeiVarae Russell and Matthias Farley to put the Boilers in front 17-10 with 6:28 left in the third quarter.

Notre Dame got a 47-yard return by George Atkinson III, but the Irish wasted the effort going three-and-out and punting to Purdue's 17.

But the Irish defense forced a three-and-out, and Notre Dame moved to Purdue's 9 as time ran out in the third quarter.
