DeKalb educator is District II superintendent of the year

Sherry L. Grate, superintendent of DeKalb County Central United School District, was named the Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents 2014 District II Superintendent of the Year.

Winners are selected by other superintendents in their district who consider the qualifications and accomplishments of area colleagues and their instructional leadership in a time of limited financial resources.

Grate joined DeKalb County Central United School District in 2000 as a school principal and became superintendent in 2009. She previously worked in Northwest Allen County School District and East Noble School Corporation.

District II includes Allen, DeKalb, Elkhart, Huntington, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben, St. Joseph and Whitley counties and portions of LaPorte County.
