Daniels has stepped up for Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND – DaVaris Daniels has emerged as one of Notre Dame's top weapons in the passing game this season.

The 6-foot-1, 203-pound junior leads the team in receiving touchdowns (4) and yards (299) and is second in receptions (17).

Daniels, who didn't score a touchdown last season, showed signs of becoming one of the Irish's top receivers when he had six catches for 115 yards in the 42-14 loss to Alabama in the BCS championship game.

Cornerback Bennett Jackson said Daniels has continued to progress since that came and it was most evident during fall camp.

"You've seen him step up when you knew he had the chance to be a key starter," Jackson said. "He worked that much harder throughout practice. If he was injured, maybe, he wouldn't sit out. He'd push through a little injury as apposed to sitting out."
