Suspect in home invasion caught

A man has been arrested in connection with a home invasion robbery this month on fort Wayne’s southwest side.

Larry McGuire III, 27, was charged Tuesday with burglary and robbery.

About 1 a.m. Sept. 11, three armed men entered a house in the 3700 block of Sandpoint Road through an unlocked garage door. In a bedroom of the home, the three robbed a man and woman at gunpoint, taking $200, court papers stated.

Less than an hour later, someone reported to police that two men in a parked Jeep were acting suspiciously in the 3700 block of Wawonaissa Trail, about two miles south of where the robbery occurred, court papers said.

A police officer arrived to find no one in the Jeep, but shortly afterward, two men returned. When the officer tried to speak with them, they bolted, court papers stated.

Police found a man running two blocks away, and he told police he was in the Jeep and that McGuire was with him, court papers said.

The robbery victims separately picked McGuire out of a photo lineup, pegging him as one of the robbers, but not the second man, court papers said.

McGuire, of the 3900 block of Eastway Drive, was later arrested and booked into the Allen County Jail. He was being held Tuesday night in lieu of $20,000. No one else has been charged in the robbery.
