Stalking charges facing 31-year-old

A 31-year-old Fort Wayne man faces two charges of stalking involving a series of threatening text messages and letters.

Jermaine A. Mitchell, of the 5800 block of Turtle Creek Drive, also faces charges of intimidation and invasion of privacy.

According to court documents, Mitchell repeatedly sent a woman vulgar and threatening text messages late last year, left threats on her voice-mail messages, and mailed letters to her when he was in the Allen County Jail.

The woman told police her life has been significantly affected by Mitchell’s conduct, including the loss of her job because he kept coming to her place of employment and causing problems. She said he damaged property at her home, and she worries all the time about what he might do to her, according to court documents.

The woman obtained a protective order against Mitchell in an earlier case, but his behavior continued, according to court documents.

Mitchell was being held Wednesday at the Allen County Lockup in lieu of $25,000 bail.
