More downtown Fort Wayne road closures to begin

Statement as issued Friday by the Fort Wayne Traffic Engineering Department:

Please be advised the next phase of the Ewing St. Storm Sewer Extension Project will begin Wednesday, September 25, 2013 and continue for 30 days, weather permitting.

This phase will necessitate the closing of the intersection of Main St. and Ewing Street. A detour route will be established for this closure that will route west bound traffic onto Ewing St., Superior St. and Van Buren Street.

East bound traffic will utilize Van Buren St, Wayne St. and Ewing Street.

Fairfield Ave will also be closed between Superior St. and Wayne Street.

To accommodate the Fairfield Ave. traffic, Ewing St. will be made 2-Way from the bridge over the St. Mary’s River (north of Superior St.) to

Jefferson Boulevard.

Berry St. between Ewing St. and Fairfield Ave. and Pearl St. between

Ewing St. and Fairfield Ave. will remain closed.

These closures will allow the contractor, API Construction, to install storm sewers on Fairfield Ave. through this area.

Motorists are asked to be patient as the conversion of Ewing St. to 2-Way traffic will cause some delays and congestion until the conversion process is complete.

The contractor will be responsible for placement and maintenance of all warning signs and barricades.
