Poolgate: Tempest in a teapot

So now even a United States senator (John McCain) has weighed on Poolgate, aka, the Los Angeles Dodgers celebrating clinching the NL West by going for a dip in the pool at Chase Field, home of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

McCain, representing his homeys in Arizona, tweeted that the Dodgers' celebration was a "no-class act by a bunch of overpaid, arrogant, immature spoiled brats!"

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Listen: There are outrages worth the outrage and outrages that aren't, and I can't think of one less worthy of all the high dudgeon it's attracted than this. Let's review, shall we?

The Dodgers clinch the division by beating the Diamondbacks 7-6.

They're asked to confine their celebration to the visitors clubhouse.

More than half the team says, to heck with that, let's take a dip in the pool.

So they did. They didn't vandalize anything. They didn't break anything or pee in the pool. And they waited until the crowd had cleared out.

What's the problem here?

OK, you can argue they should have abided by the D-backs wishes, but it was their celebration, and, again, they didn't trash the place. If the Diamondbacks don't want teams celebrating in their pool, either don't install it or beat them so they can't clinch in the Diamondbacks' house. It's that simple.

And as far as McCain calling them overpaid, arrogant, immature spoiled brats ...

Sounds a lot like Congress these days, Senator.
