Walk for Animals Oct. 13 helps fight animal cruelty, neglect

With pet owners in tow, dogs are invited to take a 2-mile walk through Headwaters Park East on Oct. 13 as part of the 26th annual Walk for Animals to help fight animal cruelty and neglect through education and community outreach.

This year’s event begins with registration at 11:30 a.m. under the Lincoln Pavilion. All participants win a shirt based on donations raised, enjoy free food and sample vendor products.

There is a $35 minimum pledge requirement per adult or child, or $120 minimum pledge per family from one household. Registration fees or donations can be submitted online at by Friday or at the walk. Pledge forms are available at Animal Care & Control and local veterinary hospitals.

This year’s event is dedicated to Eli, a dog that was rescued by Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control from neglect and abandonment and will attend the walk with his new owner.
