Statement as issued Tuesday by Sen. Dan Coats about H.J. Res. 59, the Continuing Appropriations Resolution for Fiscal Year 2014, which is pending before the Senate:
“I returned to the Senate in large part because I wanted to replace Obamacare with a health care system that works for Hoosiers, not against them. I take a backseat to no one in my commitment to overturn this disastrous law, and I have voted more than two dozen times to repeal, defund and strip away its provisions. This is a principle I share with all Republicans.
“I will support the House plan that defunds Obamacare while keeping the rest of the government running, and I will oppose any effort by Harry Reid to strike the defunding language.
“It’s decision time for Senate Democrats, who must go on record and decide whether they will continue to support Obamacare now that we all know the devastating impacts the law is having on Americans.
“This week’s vote will require Democrats to choose to stand with the American people or stand by the deeply-flawed Obamacare.”
