NBA plays name game

So this is going to happen, apparently.

(And, no, I don't know why. It's the NBA. Trying to divine why it does what it does is a fool's errand. Best to just roll with it).

Anyway ... the idea that the Heat and Nets are going to wear jerseys with nicknames on the back for some of their meetings is a cutesy idea, although most of the likely nicknames are pretty predictable. "KG" for Kevin Garnett. "D-Wade" for Dwyane Wade. "Shuttlesworth" for Ray Allen, after his character in the movie "He Got Game," Jesus Shuttlesworth.

(Would have loved to have seen Ray go out on a limb and put "Jesus" on the back of his jersey. But nobody's that brave).

And for LeBron James?

Well, "King James," of course. Yawn.

Would have much rather seen him tear a page from Rod "He Hate Me" Smart's book and go with something a trifle more edgy. Like, say, "Skip Hate Me," for ESPN blowhole Skip Bayless, whose disdain for LeBron borders on the pathological.

Now that would make some collector's item.
