Saturday apartment shooting victim dies

A man badly wounded in a shooting Saturday at an apartment complex on Fort Wayne’s south side has died, according to the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

Jordan Lee Calland, 22, died Sunday at Lutheran Hospital, coroner’s office spokeswoman Patt Kite said Thursday.

For now, Calland’s cause and manner of death have not been made official, Kite said. The coroner’s office plans to conduct an autopsy Friday.

According to police, Calland was shot multiple times Saturday night in a building at Twin Oaks Apartments on East Paulding Road, near Hessen Cassel Road.

In a second-floor apartment, officers found Calland with gunshot wounds, and medics took him to the hospital in critical condition. Calland did not live in the apartment, police said.

Witnesses told police they heard gunshots and then saw three men dressed in black run from the building and leave in a white, four-door car. No arrests have been made.

Another shooting at Twin Oaks Apartments took place days before, on Sept. 19. That victim was also critically injured, police said. There’s been no word on whether the shootings are connected.

Anyone with information about the shootings is asked to call the police department at 427-1222.
