Notre Dame falls out of polls

Notre Dame fell out of the Associated Press Top 25 and USA Today coaches poll on Sunday.

The Irish dropped out of the polls after Saturday's 35-21 loss to Oklahoma, which left Notre Dame at 3-2 for the season. The Irish entered Saturday ranked No. 22 in both polls.

This is the first time Notre Dame is not in either poll since the end of the 2011 season when it finished 8-5. The Irish are not in the AP Top 25 for the first time since the 2012 preseason poll.

Oklahoma (4-0) moved up in both polls going from No. 14 to No. 11 in the AP Top 25 and from No. 12 to No. 10 in the coaches poll.

The Irish will not have to wait long to try to get back into the polls as the face Arizona State on Saturday in Arlington, Texas.

The Sun Devils (3-1) re-entered the polls after defeating USC 62-41 on Saturday. The Trojans (3-2) fired coach Lane Kiffin on Sunday morning, and named Ed Orgeron the interim coach, according to reports.

Arizona State is No. 22 in the AP Top 25 and No. 24 in the coaches poll.
