23-year-old gunned down Thursday is identified

FORT WAYNE – The identity of a Fort Wayne man who was shot to death late Thursday at an apartment complex on Fort Wayne’s south end was released Monday.

The death of Katahj Amard Blackmon, 23, on Monday was officially declared a homicide by the Allen County Coroner’s Office. His death was the 33rd homicide in the city and county for 2013.

Police were called at 11:16 p.m. to the 8300 block of Bridgeway Lane in Southbridge Apartments near Tillman Road, Lafayette Street and South Anthony Extended.

They found Blackmon with gunshot wounds in front of an apartment building. Witnesses reported seeing two men run around the side of the building.
