Carroll streak at 5 straight

– Carroll captured its fifth boys tennis sectional title in a row with a 4-1 victory over Leo on Friday.

The Chargers (15-4), who hosted the sectional, have won 12 sectional titles in school history and advance to play the winner of the Norwell Sectional in next week’s regional, which will also be played at Carroll.

Alex Houser earned a point for Carroll with a 7-6 (4), 7-5 victory over Eli Steiner in No. 1 singles, and the Chargers’ Austin Legere won at No. 2 singles with a 6-7 (4), 6-0, 6-3 win over Eli Steiner.

Carroll also won both points in doubles play.

Dillon Fernando and Jimiroqua Stanchin defeated Tyler Christlieb and Dustin Lukemire 6-4, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles, and Hunter Davis and Ryan Van Wyngarden captured a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Drake Lomont and Riliey Stuart at No. 2 doubles.

Reid Herron won a point for Leo (14-2) with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Mason Hicks at No. 3 singles.

WARSAW: The host Tigers captured their second sectional title in a row and 26th in school history with a 5-0 win over Tippecanoe Valley.

Warsaw (12-5) will face the winner from the Culver Academies Sectional on Tuesday at Culver.

In singles play, Sam Rice defeated Tanner Neeley 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1; Kyle Wettschurack won 6-1, 6-1 over Derrick Cunningham at No. 2; and Evan Miller picked up a 6-0, 6-1 win over Isaac Shewman at No. 3.

In doubles play, Nikos Schlitt and Will Petro defeated Logan Britton and Trevor Neeley 6-2. 6-2, and Caleb Ray and Nic Jansen got a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Willy Inglehearn and Lucas Britton.

NORWELL: Semifinal matches were postponed and will be played at 3 p.m. today with Norwell taking on Adams Central and South Adams playing Bellmont.

The championship match will be played at 4:30 p.m. Monday.

CONCORDIA: The championship match between Bishop Dwenger and New Haven was postponed and will be played at 9 a.m. today in the Zollner Tennis Complex.
