Poor Peter Laviolette. The man just landed the lead role in "Three's No Company."
After just three games, all losses, he has been given a ticket to ride on the Shoe Leather Express.
In other words: Hit the bricks, pal.
There have been itchy trigger fingers and there have been itchy trigger fingers, but this takes the cake. Three games into a season that lasts roughly as long as the Punic Wars, he's gone. Finished. Outta here.
And here's the question I'm asking if I'm a Flyers fan today, and I know that Laviolette was already on thin ice with management after Philly crashed and burned in the playoffs last year: Why didn't you just fire him then?
It's the height of idiocy to stick it out with a coach you clearly weren't happy with throughout the summer, then fire him three games into the next season. What sense does that make?
I'll let you provide the obvious answer.
