Notre Dame was selected as a regional host site for the NCAA women's basketball tournament, it was announced Wednesday.
Games will be played at Purcell Pavilion on March 29 and 31 or March 30 and April 1. The exact dates will be announced at a later date.
Notre Dame has played host to one other NCAA regional on March 25 and 27, 1983. The Irish have been hosts for NCAA tournament games nine times, and this is the fourth time in the last six seasons the program is a host site for either the first or second weekend of the tournament.
The other NCAA women's tournament host sites announced on Wednesday are (host school listed in parentheses): Ames, Iowa (Iowa State); Baton Rouge, La. (LSU); Chapel Hill, N.C. (North Carolina); College Park, Md. (Maryland); College Station, Texas (Texas A&M); Durham, N.C. (Duke); Iowa City, Iowa (Iowa); Knoxville, Tenn. (Tennessee); Lexington, Ky. (Kentucky); Los Angeles, Calif. (UCLA); Seattle, Wash. (Washington); Storrs, Conn. (Connecticut); Toledo, Ohio (Toledo); University Park, Pa. (Penn State); Waco, Texas (Baylor); and West Lafayette (Purdue).
