Singles, baby!

Spinzilla Takes Over

Lara Neel - The Journal Gazette
Oh art batt, how I love thee.

Last night, I set aside everything else I was supposed to do, broke out a batt that I bought for the Tour de Fleece, and spun the whole thing.

As before, I laid it out, pulled it into 4 strips, and tore/rolled the stripes into fauxlags and spun it long-draw. This is a really fun batt - wool, alpaca and firestar, which is that stuff that is shiny.

I had my own, personal Big Bang Theory marathon as I worked. When an episode ended, I stood up to stretch my legs (literally!) During Tour de Fleece, I managed to pull my left calf, and I don't want to do that, again. My legs feel good today, so my method seems to have worked.

I should have stretched my hands and my thumbs better, though. My right wrist is a little stiff. Live and learn!

I also wound off and measured the batt I plied earlier this week - 245 yards, which makes it around a heavy worsted weight.

Only singles "count" for the competition, but I already know I'm not going to set any records, so I will probably ply what I spun last night before the end of the week.

Tonight: another batt!
