1 dead in DeKalb crash

An Auburn man died Friday when he drove off a DeKalb County road and struck a tree head-on, police said.

Joseph L. Raymond, 35, was southbound in a Jeep Grand Cherokee on Dekalb County Road 29 just north of County Road 72 shortly before 3 p.m.

For no apparent reason, Raymond veered off the road into a ditch and struck a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

A passenger, David N. Morgan, 35, of Corbin, Ky., suffered arm and facial injuries, police said.
