Suspect in liquor store theft found hiding in camper

The liquor store theft case had grown cold, until police decided to release a photo to the public. Within 24 hours, a suspect was in custody.

Kosciusko County sheriff’s deputies arrested Nathanael Martin Tuttle, 35, of Cromwell, shortly before noon Friday – after a photo was plastered all over local media the day before.

The department got anonymous information that helped them find him hiding inside a RV camper near Chapman Lake, the department said in a statement. He is accused of stealing from Leesburg Liquors last month.

Officers preliminarily charged Tuttle with felony theft and possession of precursors used in making methamphetamine. He was also found to have two outstanding warrants out of Elkhart County.

Detectives said the public’s many tips involvement helped track down Tuttle’s identity and location.
