Robber sought in Kosciusko heists

Police believe one man has robbed three financial institutions in two states, including branches in Leesburg and Granger.

The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, the Berrien Springs-Oronoka Township Police Department in Michigan and the FBI are asking for the public’s help in identifying him.

The Leesburg branch of Farmers State Bank was robbed July 12. The robber was described as white, 6-foot to 6-foot-2 and in his middle to late 50s. He was wearing a ball cap, had gray or white hair and sideburns, with either a beard or goatee that appeared to come to a two-prong or fork-style point at the chin.

In a surveillance video, police said, the robber had a gaited walk or limp and wore tennis shoes. A silver or gray station wagon, possibly a Cavalier or Escort from the early to mid-1990s, was seen in the area before the robbery.

Police said Friday the same person and car were also involved in robberies at the CommunityWide Federal Credit Union of Granger and the Honor Credit Union in Berrien Springs.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department at 574-267-5667 or a tip line at 574-372-2494.
