Interstate 69 and Interstate 469 will have intermittent overnight lane restrictions beginning tonight because of sign work associated with the rerouting of U.S. 24 around Fort Wayne, the Indiana Department of Transportation said.
The sign work will take place from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. through early November, weather permitting, with restrictions lifted during the day, the transportation department said in a statement.
U.S. 24 currently goes around the south part of the city, using Interstate 69 south from Exit 302 and taking Interstate 469 east and north to New Haven. After the rerouting is completed, it will use Interstate 69 north to the Interstate 469 junction, then take 469 east and south to New Haven.
The transportation department says drivers will save almost four miles by using the new route.
