1 airlifted after US 127 crash

One person was flown to a Fort Wayne hospital Friday after a crash in rural northwest Ohio.

The Defiance Post of the State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash at U.S. 127 and Ohio 249, between Bryan and Sherwood Ohio.

Shortly before 11 a.m., a 2000 Chrysler Cirrus driven by Darius Peterson, 22, of Defiance, was going east on Ohio 249 when it failed to yield at a stop sign, according to a statement issued by the post. It said the car struck a 2003 Ford F-250 pickup driven by Earl D. Polter, 68, of Sherwood.

Both drivers were taken to the Bryan Hospital. A passenger in the pickup, Darrin Polter, was transported to the Fort Wayne hospital, the post said.

Conditions were not immediately available.

The Defiance County Sheriff’s Department, Sherwood EMS, Washington Township Fire Department and Promedica Life Flight assisted.
