Indianapolis drug raids lead to 16 arrests, 1 killed

– Authorities say a large drug operation that smuggled drugs from Mexico and distributed it throughout the Midwest was shut down Thursday with the arrests of 16 people and the fatal shooting of another during drug raids throughout Indianapolis.

The fatal shooting occurred about 6 a.m. Thursday when a suspect pointed a gun at an officer during a raid, Indianapolis police Sgt. Linda Jackson said.

A task force of local and federal officers executed 17 search warrants in the city. The raids were the result of a two-year investigation.
