Irish's Rees injured

SOUTH BEND – Notre Dame lost its starting quarterback.

Tommy Rees was sacked for an eight-yard loss by USC linebacker Lamar Dawson in the third quarter, knocking the senior out of the game.

Rees was able to walk off the field under his own power, but after being examined on the sideline for a few minutes, he went back to the locker room. Trainers appeared to administering a balance test to Rees, likely indicating a head injury.

Andrew Hendrix replaced Rees at quarterback.

Rees had completed 14 of 21 passes for 166 yards and two touchdowns before leaving the game with the Irish leading the Trojans 14-10.
