Statement as distributed Monday by the Allen County SPCA:
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Oct. 21, 2013) – The PETCO Foundation has awarded the Allen County SPCA a $12,000 grant to assist the shelter in its efforts to help more felines. The campaign called, "Fall for Felines" will allow the shelter to maintain its feline adoption fee at $10 per cat or kitten for the remainder of the year. The normal fee is $70.
"We see a significant increase in feline adoptions when we are able to reduce the fee. Those additional adoptions mean more lives saved," said Jessica Henry, shelter director. "Plus, every feline has been spayed or neutered, which we know will help reduce pet overpopulation in our community." Henry continued, "We are immensely grateful to the PETCO Foundation for supporting our efforts to encourage feline adoption and save more lives."
Adoptable felines are located at the shelter at 4914 S. Hanna Street or inside the PetSmart stores on Lima Road or in the Apple Glen shopping center.
