Biker hurt near Northcrest ID’d

Fort Wayne police have identified a 20-year-old man badly injured in a two-vehicle crash over the weekend.

Gavin Shaw, a city resident, was in critical condition Thursday evening at Parkview Regional Medical Center, hospital staff said.

On Sunday afternoon, Shaw was riding a motorcycle west on East Coliseum Boulevard when an eastbound car turned left into the Northcrest shopping center, and the motorcycle struck the car’s passenger side, police said.

Shaw, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to the hospital in serious condition and was later downgraded to critical condition, police said.

The driver of the car, Ashley Siders, 19, of Fort Wayne was not hurt. Her front-seat passenger had minor injuries but refused medical attention, police said.

Siders told crash investigators she did not see the motorcycle, police said.
