Excise police make arrests in Fort Wayne on alcohol-related charges

Indiana State Excise Police made several arrests in Fort Wayne over the weekend on alcohol-related charges, according to an excise police statement.

Officers made 18 arrests on Friday, including 15 on charges of illegal consumption of alcohol.

Fourteen arrests happened when officers arrived on the scene of a loud party in the 5300 block of Ashland Drive about which they received complaints, the statement said.

Also Friday, one minor was also arrested on a charge he or she was in a tavern, and two adults were arrested on charges of furnishing alcohol to a minor, according to the statement.

On Saturday, excise officers said they arrested one minor on a charge of illegal possession of alcohol and one adult on a charge of furnishing alcohol to a minor.

In addition to the Fort Wayne arrests, excise officers arrested 55 people at the 19th Annual AMSOIL Ironman Grand National Cross Country off-track motocross race in Crawfordsville this weekend, a statement said.

And in Elkhart County officers cited five bars, arrested four people and seized one handgun Saturday night.
