1-year-old killed by SUV is identified

FORT WAYNE – The death of a 1-year-old Fort Wayne boy struck and killed this weekend by a family vehicle has been ruled an accident.

The Allen County Coroner’s Office on Monday released the identification of Collier D. Holbrook.

He died Saturday evening after he was struck by a sport utility vehicle as his family members were rearranging vehicles in the driveway of a home on the near-southwest side, Fort Wayne police said.

About 6:45 p.m., emergency crews were sent to the home in the 4100 block of Hiawatha Boulevard, west of Foster Park. They found the toddler pinned underneath the SUV, police said.

Firefighters and medics freed Collier and took him to a hospital in critical condition. The boy was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.
