FORT WAYNE – A shooting that injured two women Monday night north of Fort Wayne has Allen County police looking for a suspect they consider armed and dangerous.
That suspect, Stephen Dale Walker, 34, remained at large Tuesday, said Cpl. Jeremy Tinkel, a sheriff’s department spokesman.
About 9:10p.m. Monday, sheriff’s officers responded to a report of a shooting at a home in the 4800 block of Green Meadows Drive, near Dupont and Tonkel roads.
Officers found two women suffering from gunshot wounds. One was in serious condition, and the other was in fair condition. Both were taken to a hospital.
On Tuesday, Tinkel said the women were recovering. Their names and ages were not released.
Walker, who was in a relationship with one of the women, allegedly shot both of them after a domestic dispute.
Soon afterward, witnesses saw him leave in a black Kia, sheriff’s department officials said.
Anyone who knows Walker’s whereabouts is asked to immediately call 911 or the sheriff’s department at 449-3000.
“We would encourage anybody if they have information to please call,” Tinkel said. “Don’t try to apprehend this person yourself.”
Walker, of the 8100 block of North Clinton Street, is a registered sex offender, according to the sheriff’s department website.
In three separate Allen County cases, he was convicted of domestic battery in 2007, sexual misconduct with a minor in 2007 and sexual misconduct with a minor again in 2012. All three convictions resulted in prison time, according to the Indiana Department of Correction.
