Big Ten announces preseason All-Conference squads, projected finishes

ROSEMONT, Ill. -- The Big Ten released its official preseason All-Big Ten teams and projected finishing positions in the conference during its basketball media day Thursday.

Michigan State was named the unanimous preseason favorite on the men's side, and sophomore guard Gary Harris was tabbed the Preseason Player of the Year by the media. Michigan was picked No. 2 in the conference, and Ohio State was No. 3.

The preseason All-Big Ten team featured Harris, Michigan forward Mitch McGary, Michigan forward Glenn Robinson III, Michigan State center Adreian Payne, Ohio State guard Aaron Craft and Penn State guard Tim Frazier.

Nebraska was chosen as the No. 1 team in women's hoops by both the coaches and media, with Penn State and Michigan State second and third, respectively. Nittany Lions senior guard Maggie Lucas earned Preseason Player of the Year honors, and along with Cornhuskers forward Jordan Hooper was a unanimous preseason All-Big Ten pick by coaches. Junior guard Rachel Banham of Minnesota was a unanimous choice by the media, and Purdue senior guard Courtney Moses made both teams.
