Alabama trucker hurt in I69 crash

An Alabama truck driver who is believed to have suffered a medical episode drove off I-69 in northern Allen County Friday night and critically injured himself, Indiana State Police reported.

The victim, Norman D. Baker from Moulton, Ala., was driving a freightliner semi truck north near the 317 marker in Allen County when he drove off the east side of the roadway. After striking at least one sign, his truck stopped in a ditch, the ISP said.

Emergency responders found Baker unconscious inside the truck and took him to Parkview Regional Medical Center in critical condition.

The statement said Baker may have had a medical episode that caused the crash. It remains under investigation.
