Notre Dame in the polls

Notre Dame returned to both football polls Sunday.

The Irish improved to 7-2 with a 38-34 home win over Navy (4-4) on Saturday, and that was enough to get them back in the Associated Press Top 25.

Notre Dame is ranked 24th in the AP poll, and it remained at No. 25 in the USA Today coaches poll. The Irish returned to the coaches poll last week.

Notre Dame was 25th in last week's BCS standings. The new standings will be announced at 8:30 p.m.

Notre Dame is behind two teams it defeated in both polls with Arizona State (6-2) sitting at No. 23 in the AP poll and No. 24 in the coaches poll and Michigan State (8-1) at No. 18 in the AP poll and No. 19 in the coaches.

The lone, remaining ranked team the Irish have on their schedule is Stanford (7-1), which is ranked sixth in both polls. Notre Dame travels to play the Cardinal in the season finale on Nov. 30.
