Goal, fights from Vegas

Komets take 2 of 3 in Vegas

Auger's 2 goals pace 4-1 win Sunday

Chris Auger scored twice and the Komets defeated the Las Vegas Wranglers 4-1 on Sunday at the Orleans Arena.

That was the Komets' second win in their three weekend games at Vegas, bringing Fort Wayne's record in this young ECHL season to 2-2-2.

Las Vegas dropped to 3-6-0.

Auger opened the scoring on a power play 2:54 into the game, but Las Vegas' Geoff Irwin answered at 10:49.

Defenseman Jace Coyle scored on a power play at 16:20 of the first period, and Auger put the game out of reach off a rebound 44 seconds into the third period.

Brandon Marino finished the scoring for Fort Wayne, which got 33 saves from goaltender Andrey Makarov.

Once again, tempers flared -- there were three fights.

Shawn Szydlowski, Nick Tuzzolino and Coyle all dropped the gloves for the Komets, with Coyle getting a game misconduct for being involved in a secondary altercation.

Tuzzolino got a spearing major in the final minute, so he could face further discipline from the ECHL.

Fort Wayne scored on 2 of 7 power plays. Las Vegas was 0 for 6.

The Komets play Wednesday morning at Evansville.
